Corpn slaps fine on traders on 2nd day

Erode Corporation officials slapped fine on many traders of vegetable market at VOC Park on Friday.

The Nethaji market near clock tower area was shifted to VOC Park last year due to corona where more than 700 vegetable stalls and more than 50 fruit stalls were operating.

Wholesale trade is held in nights and retail in the morning hours.

The shops are set up in keeping with the social space.

Various restrictions have been imposed as the corona is currently accelerating.

From time to time officials on behalf of the corporation visit and inspect the market area.

Strict restrictions have been imposed here as people gather in large numbers at the same time.

Authorities led by Corporation Commissioner Ilangovan on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection and fined those who did not follow the rules.

Following this, the Veerappan Chattram police along with the corporation officials fined the public for not wearing face masks at the vegetable market for the 2nd consecutive day on Friday.

They made arrangement to allow public one by one into the market by observing the social gap and undergoing thermal scanner test.

Some traders put up shop outside the market.
