Assembly elections were held in Tamil Nadu on April 6. Voting took place peacefully in 2741 polling stations in 8 assembly constituencies in Erode district.
A total of 76.91 per cent votes were cast in the 8 Assembly constituencies.
EVMs in six assembly constituencies of Erode East, West, Modakkurichi, Anthiyur, Perundurai and Bhavani are kept at the counting centre set up at the IRTT Engineering College, Chithodu and EVMs of Gobi and Bhavanisagar were kept in the Gobi Arts and Science College in Gobi with heavy police security.
The counting of votes will take place on May 2.

The number of new cases has crossed 16000. Following this, the Election Commission of India has imposed new restrictions on the ballot counting center this time.

Following this, arrangements have been made to hold a corona test camp today for 128 candidates contesting in all the 8 assembly constituencies in Erode district, their agents and staff working at the counting center.
Accordingly, a corona test camp was set up today at the Government Girls’ High School in Panneerselvam Park, Erode for candidates, agents, government employees and teachers from the Erode East and West Assembly constituencies.
The camp started at 7 am and the corona examination was conducted for the AIADMK and DMK,independent candidates. Following that, the agents and government employees were examined.
Similarly separate camps were set up block wise and corona testing was done for all.
These results will be known tomorrow.
Those who are not affected will be given identity cards to go to the ballot counting center, officials said.
