TN tribals association and Sudar NGO functionaries distributed rice and other groceries to to over 350 tribal families of Koilnatham, Chinnasengulam, Periya Sengulam, Alasoppanatti, Mottaipodu, Agnipavi, Hosur, Kongadai etc in Bargur Hill with the help of an IT firm of Chennai on Thursday.
The NGOs conducted a survey in 15 hamlets in the hill and found the families which did not have ration cards so that they did not get Rs 1000 corona relief and essential commodities from the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Tirupur MP Subbarayan said that though the government announced many welfare schemes for poor, it did not reach the hill areas and it was vindicated over the plight of 350 families which did not even have ration, aadhar, voters, unorganized labour welfare board ID cards.
He pleaded to the collector to hold a special camp to help the poor people in the hill suitably.
The NGO functionaries VP Gunasekaran, SC Natraj and AITUC functionaries S Chinnasamy and Madeswaran attended.
