District Collector C. Kadiravan said that 7,831 villages have been isolated to prevent the spread of corona.
In a press release, he said ”various precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the second wave of corona infection in Erode district.
91 places in rural and urban areas have been declared as isolated areas. Barricades are being erected and monitored there.
7,831 belonging to 375 families were staying there. They are not allowed to cross the barricades.
Violation will result in action being taken under the Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Act.
Regional and village level committees have been set up to monitor the basic needs of all of them such as food, water and medical assistance.
The Regional Level Committee consists of the PA (Development) to Collector, Tahsildar, BDO, the Police, the Assistant Project Officer (Mahalir Thittam) and the Executive Officer of local bodies.
The village level committee consists of the village administration officer, the panchayat leader, the panchayat secretary, the anganwadi workers and the nurse.
The public is advised to wear face shields, wash their hands frequently with disinfectant and follow the government’s safety guidelines such as adhering to social gaps”.
