Contract medical staff stage protest in Coimbatore

More than 100 contract employees of a private company working at the Coimbatore Government Hospital staged a protest in front of the Coimbatore District Collector’s Office on Monday, demanding to convert them as permanent employees.

The protesters demanded that the Tamil Nadu government declare them as permanent employees, who have been working as contract employees at the Coimbatore Government Hospital for 9 years. They said that the private company they were working for had not caused any trouble to them and that they were just asserting their rights.

They also demanded that the Coimbatore District Collector and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin declare them as civil servants as they were doing too much work in the hospital. This caused a stir in the Coimbatore District Collector’s Office for quite some time.
