Congress party cadres in Coimbatore staged a demonstration on Friday, condemning the fuel price hike.
They expressed their protest in a peculiar manner by tying a two-wheeler with that of a funerary crate. Petrol and diesel prices are soaring to a record high of Rs 100 per litre. Tamil Nadu Congress leader KS Alagiri had announced that protests would be held in front of petrol stations across Tamil Nadu condemning the central BJP government for not controlling the price hike.
Accordingly, on behalf of the Coimbatore District Congress party, a protest was organised on Avinashi Road, in front of the petrol bunk near the Anna statue. Led by state executive chairman Mayura Jayakumar, the two-wheeler was tied to a funerary crate and slogans against the government were raised.
