Collector inspects facilities in counting centre

Erode
District Collector C Kathiravan on Wednesday inspected the arrangements made at the vote counting centres in the IRTT Engineering College, Chithodu.

All the electronic voting machines (EVMs) used in all the 8 constituencies in Erode district are kept safe there.

EVMs used in 6 constituencies of Erode East, Erode West, Modakkurichi, Perundurai, Bhavani and Anthiyur have been placed under 3 tier security at the College and the EVMs used at Gobi and Bhavanisagar (reserve) at the Gobi Arts and Science College.

The counting centres are also under heavy security. Surveillance cameras have been set up and surveillance is being carried out 24 hours a day. Arrangements have been intensified with only 3 days to go to counting of votes.

Additional restrictions will be announced for those going to the counting centres due to corona infection.

It is likely that many people will gather near the counting centers to know the results of the counting of votes.

Loudspeakers will be set up to know the results without difficulty.

Accordingly, work was carried out to set up loudspeakers on the facade of the Colleges.

At the end of each round, the votes received by the candidates will be announced over the loudspeaker by the polling officials.

This is arranged so that the public can know it from outside the counting center.

Meanwhile, Collector C. Kathiravan inspected the facilities to be provided at the counting center and the corona prevention measures and gave advice to the officials. District Superintendent of Police P. Thangadurai was present during the inspection.
