As the electoral roll is the base for democracy and it would alone help to hold the poll without any problem, the local body leaders should inspect it and inform the election officials in their areas about any flaws in it to help them correct the roll, said Collector C Kathiravan.Releasing the final roll at the collectorate on Wednesday, he said that public and the leaders can inspect the rolls kept in the district election, taluk, RDO offices, electoral booths etc.
They should verify whether their forms for inclusion, deletion of names or address change or correction were considered in the list and if they were not considered, they can approach the officials concerned.
The roll was received by DRO S Kavitha in the presence of various political party leaders. As per the new roll, the district has 19,57,203 voters in 8 segments.
From Nov 16 to Dec 15, forms were collected from voters about inclusion, deletion, address change and corrections in the list.As on Nov 16, 2020, the district has 1916531voters.
As per the new forms received from public from Nov 16 to Dec 15, 58620 new voters were added and 17948 were deleted from the list.
So, as per the new roll, the district has 9,53,767 men, 10,03,332 women, 104 other voters, totaling 19,57,203 voters (total booths 2215).
The total number of voters in 8 segments with booths in bracket are: Erode East 226936 (237), Erode West 291316 (298), Modakurichi 237457 (277) Perundurai 227398 (263), Bhavani 240531 (289), Anthiyur 218945 (261), Gobi 255502 (296) , Bhavanisagar 259118 (294).
