Coimbatore students won 24 medals in national level silambam, yoga tournaments

Coimbatore students who won 24 medals including gold, silver and bronze in national level silambam and yoga competitions were given an enthusiastic welcome in Coimbatore on Thursday.

The national level All India Youth Sports Tournament was held on behalf of the Youth National Sports Council of India at Calangute, Goa from October 22 to October 24.

Various competitions were held including Silambam, Yoga, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Karate and Taekwondo.
More than 800 students from various states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Punjab, Haryana, etc. participated in these competitions.

About 34 students, ranging in age from 14 to 21, won 15 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Silambam competition on behalf of the Lemon Sports Rowdra Academy, located in the Kangayampalayam area next to Sulur, from Coimbatore district.

Also in the yoga competition, the Coimbatore students won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The students, who won prizes and medals, arrived at the training centre in Coimbatore.
They were warmly welcomed by the public and fellow students of the institute.
