At the Coimbatore Government Hospital, 20 new security guards have been deployed to deal with the overcrowding.
Coimbatore Government Hospital(GH) treats more than 5,000 inpatients and outpatients daily. Besides, about 1000 people are being treated with corona infection. Already, with fewer doctors and nurses, the problem was getting worse.
The hospital premises were overcrowded with patients and their relatives on a daily basis and the security personnel were unable to cope with the crowd. In this context, Coimbatore Builders and Contractors Association(CEBACA) has provided 20 security personnel to the GH. Hospital Dean Nirmala says, “With the shortage of staff in the hospital, such help is encouraging.
At present, the newly-deployed security personnel are involved in controlling the crowds at the hospital, paving the way for ambulances and monitoring the public.”
