Case registered against 571 people for violating curfew

Corona 2nd wave is spreading fast in Tamil Nadu. The curfew has been extended till June 14 to control the infection.
Despite the curfew, large number of people in two-wheelers and four-wheelers roam around as usual. Police were on high alert across the district yesterday.


Yesterday alone, 227 people who did not wear face shields were fined Rs 200 each. 18 people who do not follow the social gap were fined.


A total of 571 cases were registered for violating the curfew.


Police also seized 535 two-wheelers and 14-wheelers. A fine of Rs 2.70 lakh was levied yesterday alone, police said.
The number of vehicles was seen to be higher than usual as the curfew was enforced with relaxation. There was a traffic jam at the checkpoints.

Many were said to be moving in vehicles for medical reasons. So, the police allowed them.
