TNSTC bus services became normal in Erode district following the trade unions withdrew the strike abruptly due to the announcement of election date.
The unions have been on strike since Feb 25 demanding various benefits, including pay hike and payment of cash benefits to pensioners.
In Erode district, 720 buses were operating daily from 13 depots. About 70 percent of the buses ran during the first day of the strike. Thus the public was not much affected.
But most of the buses were not running during the second day of the strike on the 26th.
Students, traders and the general public from rural areas suffered greatly as most of the buses were not operated during the 3rd day of the strike.
