Bus crews fined for allowing standees in Coimbatore

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner P Kumaravel Pandiyan slapped a fine of Rs 500 each on the crews of 4 buses for allowing standees and Rs 200 each on 15 persons for not wearing masks in violation of government norms on corona prevention measures.

He inspected Gandhi puram bus stand in the city to enforce the norms and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the owner of a private petrol bunk on Mettupalayam Road for not adhering to the norms.

He advised the public to wear masks, maintain social distance, wash their hands to prevent spreading of corona infection and visit nearby hospitals in case of fever without delay.

He called on the public to co-operate fully with the government’s efforts to prevent the spread of corona infection.


Executive Engineer Ravichandran, Assistant Executive Engineer Karuppusamy, Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
