“If the ban on toddy is not lifted, the Ashwamedha Yagya will be held in January 2022 in Chennai,” said Kallu Nallasamy, Secretary, Federation of Tamil Nadu Agricultural Associations on Saturday.
A press conference was held on behalf of the Federation of Tamil Nadu Agricultural Associations at the Coimbatore Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Kallu Nallasamy said, “The Government of Tamil Nadu has withdrawn the cases against the farmers who fought against the agrarian laws.
Likewise, the government should withdraw the cases filed against the rebels who procured toddy as per the law”.
He said that the organisation has been fighting for 17 years to remove the ban imposed on toddy and added that toddy is not a seductive drug.
“No one has come forward to stop the sacrificial horse of the Ashwamedha Yajna, which was conducted during the regime of Kalaignar in Chennai and prove that is a prohibited substance, but the ban on toddy continues,” he said while he added that the ban must be lifted immediately or else Aswamedha Yajna will be conducted for the fourth time in January 2022.
