Wholesale vegetable merchants demand alternative location

Members of the Coimbatore district wholesale vegetable merchant association submitted a petition to the district collector Kranthikumar Pati on Monday demanding his intervention to relocate the market to a location equipped with basic facilities. 

The city corporation has temporarily shifted the market to Erukampeni as the existing market is under renovation. According to trades, the Erukampeni market does not have proper roads, toilets, electricity or drinking water facilities. 

Over 2,500 traders are working in the market. The traders demand the officials to create separate electricity facilities for billing and to lay roads so that tonnes of vegetables could be transported easily.
