Union Bank of India organised a 3- day Women Leadership Development Program at Coimbatore to address the critical issue of gender diversity in leadership.
The first day program was presided over by A. Manimekalai, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.
She spoke about issues such as low representation of women in leadership roles, breaking down attitudinal barriers and disparity in women's participation in the promotion process.
Social worker Dr. Kiran Bedi, former Lt. Governor of Puducherry and India's first woman IPS officer, participated as the special speaker on the occasion.
In her speech, she highlighted her experiences in various fields and guided women on how to face the challenges in the society. Major Vandana Sharma, retired ex-army officer and great administrator and speaker on the occasion, spoke about his life journey. She described and shared her experiences from fighting on the frontlines of the Kargil war.
