Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) General Secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Friday launched a scathing attack on AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), accusing him of arrogance, greed for power, and turning the AIADMK into “Edappadi DMK.”
Speaking to reporters in Madurai, Dhinakaran said Palaniswami had no moral right to expel senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan from the AIADMK. “Edappadi Palaniswami is not qualified to remove Sengottaiyan. He will face the people’s verdict in the 2026 Assembly elections. That defeat will be his answer,” Dhinakaran declared.
The remarks came a day after Sengottaiyan was expelled from the AIADMK for allegedly acting against party interests and associating with expelled leaders. Responding to EPS’s earlier claim that Sengottaiyan had been removed even by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Dhinakaran said, “Sengottaiyan is a senior and capable leader who has served the party with commitment. No one in the AIADMK today is more experienced than him.”
Continuing his criticism, Dhinakaran said, “Edappadi Palaniswami is digging his own downfall. What exists today is not AIADMK, but Edappadi DMK. His greed for power and selfishness are growing by the day.”
He also accused Palaniswami of leading the AIADMK into decline. “When he boasted of winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections without us, why did he fail? AIADMK is continuously slipping because of his arrogance and poor leadership,” Dhinakaran charged.
Expressing confidence that the people would deliver a strong message in the next Assembly polls, Dhinakaran said, “The 2026 election will give the right answer to Palaniswami’s callousness. The AIADMK under his control is collapsing, and the people are watching.”
Dhinakaran’s sharp remarks have added new intensity to the ongoing political rift between the AMMK, AIADMK, and other factions ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections.
