Thoothukudi mayor inaugurates art festival

Thoothukudi mayor Jagan Periyaswamy lit a lamp and inaugurated the district-level art festival ‘Kalai Thiruvizha’ that was organized for the government higher secondary school students at Grace college of engineering near Mullakkadu in the district on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Jagan said, the state government has been organizing art festivals to develop skills of the government school students through competitions like drama, dance, painting, instrumental music, singing, poetry, essay and oratorical.
He requested the students to make use of these opportunities to enhance their skills and to make their respective school and district proud.

More than 1,350 students took part in the event. Additional district program coordinator Muniyaswamy delivered welcome address, while district coordinator for dropout students Koodalingam hosted the programme and assistant program officer Percyal Gnanamani delivered vote of thanks. 

The college principal S Richard, district secondary education officer Jayaprakash Rajan, district primary education officer Chinnarasu, district education officers Tamilselvi and 
Udhayakumar, and statistics officer Nagararajan gave greetings.Education coordinators Rajalakshmi, Krishnaveni, Sathyaseelan and Sudalaimuthu were also present at the event.
