Plea to fix MSP of Rs 7000 per ton for casava

TN small and marginal farmers association state president KR Sudantararasu appealed to the Collectors of Erode, Salem and Namakkal districts to fix a minimum support price of Rs 7000 per ton for casava to check further fall in price during the harvest season of
December.
Erode district Collector S Kandasamy presided over the monthly farmers grievance redressal meeting at the collectorate.
In his petition, Sudantararasu wanted 50 percent import duty on palm oil to protect local oil producers, opening of turmeric research centre at Vadugapatti, and Kodumudi taluk office, creation of Chennimalai taluk, sub registrar office at Modakurichi, and ban on import of cholam and casava products, payment of Rs 8 cr compensation under the Powergrid Corporation to coconut growers, 3 phase 24 hour power supply for farm sector, free power supply for floriculture farms, conversion of condition patta as ayan patta, election for 44 irrigation councils of Lower Bavani Project, desilting of Kuranganodai river, construction of grains storage godowns in each panchayat, constitution of turmeric and casava boards with HQ at Erode, supply of coconut oil in ration shops,
etc.
