Leather Skill Council launches Virtual Reality Training, Signs MoU with IIT Madras

In an endeavour to revolutionize the way the existing workforce can be skilled and to provide new aspirants with the opportunity to acquire skills through simulated and immersive learning technology, the Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC) has announced the launch of Virtual Reality Training Content for the Footwear and Leather Sector under its Skill Certification Assessment for Leather Employees Industry 4.0 (SCALE Ind 4.0) platform.

The Virtual Reality (VR) training content modules for Computerized Stitching Machine and Tannery Drum Operations was launched by Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi IAS (Retd), Chairman of the National Council for Vocational Education & Training (NCVET) at an event organized by LSSC that witnessed participation of Mr. P. R. Aqeel Ahmed, Chairman-LSSC, Mr.Sanjay Leekha Chairman-Council for Leather Exports, Mr.Habib Hussain, Chairman-Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Mr.Selvam IAS Executive Director-Council for Leather Exports, Shri.K.R.Vijayan, Chairman Indian Footwear and Leather Manufacturers Export Association (IFLMEA) Prof. N.Ramesh Babu, Secretary-Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Centre(AMTDC) – IIT Madras, and Mr. Rajesh Rathnam, CEO-LSSC.  

The SCALE Ind 4.0 is the platform created by Leather SSC to introduce Industry 4.0 practices in the Footwear and Leather Sector to make this sector a highly competitive sector in the global markets by transforming the factories into SMART Factories and contribute to making India the skill capital of the world.
