Coimbatore bagged the overall championship in Silambam competition

More than 590 students participated in the 19th state level sub junior Silambam championship that was organized by Karpagam academy of higher education on behalf of Tamil Nadu amateur Silambam association and Coimbatore district Silambam sports association.

Students from several districts including Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Tiruppur, Chennai and Dindigul participated in the championship that had 13 events - kuthuvarisai, single stick rotation, double stick rotation, long stick rotation, vel kambu, Maddu, single Surul, double surul, single sword, double sword, team events and stick fight. Coimbatore team had secured 84 points and won the overall championship followed by Virudhunagar team with 38 points and Tirunelveli team with 37 points.
