Atlee-Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan faces plagiarism allegations

Atlee-Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan faces plagiarism allegations

As director Atlee is busy with the shooting of Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in lead roles, a complaint has been lodged with the Tamil Film Producers council accusing the makers of plagiarism. Jawan is Atlee’s Bollywood debut.

The complainant had stated that the story of the movie is similar to that of actor Vijayakanth’s Perarasu which was produced by Roja Combines.  The complaint was filed by one Manickam Narayan. According to the complaint, he had extended financial support to the company after the demise of its head Kaja Mydeen and owned rights to the film.

He, in his complaint, said that Atlee had copied the Perarasu's story to make Jawan and he holds the rights to the Perarasu movie. Narayanan also sent a letter to the South Indian Film Chamber. The executive body of the council is expected to hold a hearing on the complaint on November 9. This is not the first time the movie makers have been accused of plagiarism. After its first teaser was released, it was compared with 1990 Hollywood movie Darkman and then with Sardar.
