AIADMK candidate for the Erode East by-poll KS Thennarasu, who was supposed to file his nomination on Friday, has postponed it to February 7 due to unknown reasons. Following the demise of Congress MLA Eevera Thirumagan, the constituency fell vacant and ECI scheduled a by-election on February 27.
The nomination filing commenced on January 31 and so far, 20 candidates including the candidates of DMDK and NTK and independent candidates filed their nominations.
Prominent parties like the Congress, AIADMK and AMMK announced that their candidates would file nominations on Friday. However, at the last minute, AIADMK postponed his nomination filing and announced that he would file his nominations on the last day, which is February 7. The postponement comes after the BJP state president K Annamalai interacted with AIADMK leaders Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam.
