A revolutionary act by Supreme Court Chief Justice

The bench comprising only women judges,Justice HimaKohli and Justice Bola M. Trivedi has been constituted by Chief Justice T.Y. Chandrachud.  This is for the third time in the history of the Supreme Court that the bench consisting of only women judges has been created.

Thirty two cases including matrimonial disputes and bail petitions were listed before this bench of judges. It was a revolutionary, noble decision establishing equality between men and women. Conducting this in the Supreme Court itself will be a guideline for the country itself.

Earlier, in 2013 and 2018, there was a bench with only women judges. In 2013, the bench consisted of Justices KyanSudhaMisra and RanjanaPrakash Desai. In 2018, Justices R. Banumathi and Indira Banerjee were members of an all-women bench.
Supreme Court requires 34 judges.

But now there are only 27 judges. In the Supreme Court, Justice HimaKohli, Justice Bela M. Trivedi, Justice P.V. Nagaratna has three women judges. More women judges should be included. The number of women judges should increase as the remaining seats are filled!
