45th Yercaud Summer Festival begins today

The 45th. Yercaud Summer Festival begins today at 4.00 p.m, one day ahead of the scheduled date. The festival will be held for 8 days until June 1, 2022.
K.N Nehru, Minister for Municipal Administration, M.R.K Paneerselvam, Minister for Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, and Dr.M.Madhivendhan, Minister for Tourism will inaugurate the Summer Festival and the Flower Show and deliver speeches in the inaugural function. S. Karmegam, Salem Collector, Dr.Pon Gowtham, M.P, Kallakurichi, 
S.R Parthiban, Salem M.P. R.Rajenderan, Salem North MLA, other elected representatives and office-bearers of cooperative societies will take part.

With an objective to attract children and tourists, the Department of Horticulture has put up a Flower Show at Anna Park with a huge display of 5 lakh flowers. Vegetable and fruit shows have also been arranged. An exhibition of all government schemes and a photo exhibition highlighting the one year achievements of the state government titled, “Ooya Uzhaipin Oru Aandu,” by the Information and Publicity Department will be held on all days. Several attractive flower sculptures have been made and displayed in Anna Park. The Rose Garden and the Botanical Garden have been spruced up with more flower displays.

Other added Traditional Food Cookery Contest attractions include Pet Show by the Animal Husbandry Department, Healthy Baby Contest and by Integrated Child Development Project, Kolam Design Contest by Mahalir Thittam, Boat Race by Tourism Department. The Department of Arts and Culture will organize several cultural events like folk drama, drama, light music etc. Tourists can also enjoy international film screenings and light music programmes on all days.

Special buses have been arranged from Salem to Yercaud for public convenience. Also, special buses within Yercaud town for sightseeing have been arranged. In partnership with NGOs and environmentalists, a green Yercaud campaign will be held. The Salem Automobile Mechanics Association will conduct free vehicle checks for the convenience of the tourists.
