37718 students benefitting under Ennum Ezhuthum scheme

Around 37718 students belonging to 1189 schools in Erode district are benefiting under the “Ennum Ezhuthum'' programme, launched by the Department of School Education, said District Collector Mr. H. Krishnanunni, when he visited Avalpoonthurai Panchayat Union Primary School on Friday.

Chief Minister inaugurated the scheme

He said the Chief Minister inaugurated the scheme on 13.6.2022 for 1st to 3rd standard in government and government-aided schools in Tamil Nadu. All schools in Tamil Nadu have been closed for more than 19 months due to the Corona pandemic and there has been a huge gap in the learning of students with no classes.

To bridge this gap, the scheme was launched for 3 years. So, by 2025, all children under the age of eight will be able to read, write and do basic arithmetic without error. He directed the school headmaster to examine the attendance records of the students and find out the students who have not been in school for 5 consecutive days and advise the parents to send them to the school.
