DVAC raid in 27 places linked to Ilangovan of AIADMK

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths are conducting raids at 27 places owned by Tamil Nadu State Co-operative Bank Chairman Ilangovan.

Series of anti-corruption raids are being carried out at the residences of former AIADMK ministers and supporters across Tamil Nadu.

In this context, a raid is being carried out at 27 places in Salem, including the house of Tamil Nadu State Co-operative Bank chairman Ilangovan.

Ilangovan, who is the chairman of the Salem Central Cooperative Bank, is also the suburban district secretary of the J Peravai of AIADMK.

Anti-corruption sleuths are conducting raids at 27 places owned by Ilangovan in Salem, Trichy and Kallakurichi districts.
Ilangovan’s house in Salem is also subjected to a raid. It is noteworthy that Ilangovan is very close to AIADMK co-coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy.

The raid is also being conducted in colleges, including a polytechnic owned by Ilangovan, in Musiri, Trichy district.
In Salem, a raid is being carried out at the residence of Salem District J Peravai Treasurer Gubendran. He is also the Vice President of the Salem Agricultural Producers Cooperative Marketing Association.

Ilangovan’s sister Indrani is living with her son Krishnamurthy in Lalapettai, Karur district after the death of her husband Kaliyaperumal. Five policemen led by DSP Nagaraj of the Dindigul District Anti-Corruption Unit have been conducting a raid at Indrani’s house since this morning. Revenue officials were called in during the raid to check the assets of Indrani and her family through a laptop.

Ilangovan and his son Praveen Kumar have been charged under the Anti-Corruption Act. Ilangovan has been charged for amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs 3.78 crore, disproportionate to income from 2014-2020.

Namakkal DVAC officers are conducting a raid at the home and office of PST Thennarasu, a supporter of Ilangovan, a resident of Nallpalayam in Namakkal. More than ten officers are involved in this work.

It is noteworthy that Thennarasu has been carrying out various government-related constructions including Namakkal Government Medical College Building, Chennai Pulianthoppe Apartment Building and so on for the last 10 years.
