700 policemen monitor full curfew

As the impact of the corona outbreak continues to increase, a full curfew has been imposed from today until the 24th. District Police Superintendent Thangathurai had warned that stern action would be taken against those who wandered in vehicles unnecessarily.

Police are also on high alert at 13 standard checkpoints across the district.

In addition, checkpoints have been set up at 42 additional locations and more than 700 police personnel, including two ADSPs and nine DSPs, are on security duty.

In the Erode town, the police have set up barricades at vital places where people can congregate, such as the Bull Fight Statue, Panneer Selvam Park, Manikkundu, Bus Stand, Swastic Cornar, Mettur Road, Chennimalai Road, Perundurai Road, GH Roundana, Veerappanchatram and Karungalpalayam.

They secured a few people wandering outside and alerted them and sent them away. Some were fined and two-wheelers and four-wheelers were confiscated.

Those who went out to buy essentials were allowed by the police.

Similarly, at the Karungalpalayam Cauvery check post, the police were engaged in intensive surveillance for 24 hours.
Vehicles carrying essential items were allowed inside only after intensive inspection.

Similarly, vehicles going to Bhavani Lakshmi Nagar check post, Bannari check post and Talawadi state border check posts were allowed into the district after intensive inspection.

However, the curfew was violated and youths were unnecessarily roaming around the district. They were alerted by the police and sent away.
