40 check posts to be created to check smuggling of liquor from Karnataka

District Superintendent of Police Thangathurai said on Sunday that additional check posts would be set up at 40 places in the district to curb the smuggling of liquor in villages along the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border.

In particular, four additional check posts will be set up on the Bannari-Mysore National Highway.


Preparations are underway for ensuring due protection during election for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Electronic voting machines for 374 polling booths in the Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency, including the control unit, have been placed at the Satyamangalam Taluk Office which was guarded by armed policemen.

The SP supervised the security aspect.

He said arrangements are being made by the police to provide telecommunication facilities to the polling booths located in the forest area.
