Three persons were killed on the spot when a car collided with a lorry carrying chicken waste near Vijayamangalam in Erode district. Three more injured workers have been admitted to the government hospital.
A lorry was parked near the Vijayamangalam Eeswaran temple near Perundurai yesterday to transport poultry waste.
Six workers were involved in loading the chicken waste, collected from meat shops.
At that time, a speeding car coming from Tirupur to Perundurai lost control of its driver and collided with a lorry loading chicken waste on the roadside.
Chinnarasu, Muthan and Kittan, who were on duty there at the time of the accident, died tragically on the spot. Also Ramkumar, Senthilkumar and Chinnan were critically injured.
But no one in the car was injured.
Upon learning of the accident, the Perundurai police rushed to the scene and rescued the three workers who were critically injured in the accident and sent them to the Perundurai Government Hospital for treatment.
The bodies of the three victims were recovered and sent to a government hospital for autopsy.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
