As a precautionary measure, 2 walkways have been closed due to the breakdown of 13 pillars on the walkway at the Erode central bus stand.
The shops and walkways constructed at the Erode Corporation Central Bus Stand are in a state of damaged condition.
The corporation administration has decided to carry out the reconstruction work at a cost of Rs 35 crore.

As a precautionary measure, the corporation administration has set up barricades on both the platforms to prevent buses and passengers from crossing as they are likely to collapse at any time.
Corporation Commissioner M. Ilangovan on Tuesday inspected the faulty supporting pillars.
He told reporters: Reconstruction work on the bus stand has not started due to election.
In this situation, precautionary measures have been taken to prevent passengers from walking on the walkways which are about to collapse at the bus stand.
