Tamil Nadu Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Vijayabhaskar has on Friday tweeted that Two lakh doses of Covishield vaccine will arrive in Chennai by noon shipped by Serum Institute.
The tweet added, “The team is working 24/7 to ensure vaccines are supplied to all vaccine centres even in the remotest villages. The supply chain process is intact to facilitate mass vaccination.”
The tweet comes in the wake of the state falling short of vaccines amidst a rapid surge in the COVID cases. It is to be noted that Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, requesting the supply of about 20 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines and to ensure easy accessibility of Remdesivir, a life-saving drug for patients with COVID-19.
“I would request that an assured supply of at least 10 days consumption of vaccine, of about 20 lakh doses, may be supplied well in advance to ensure that the vaccination drive in the individual sites are not affected and persons coming for the second dose are assured of vaccination on the date and in the site they report,” read the letter.
