112 hospitals allowed to treat corona cases under insurance scheme

Around 112 hospitals in Coimbatore district were allowed to treat corona cases under the CM’s health insurance scheme, said Principal Secretary to Government, Commissioner for Commercial Taxes and monitoring officer of Coimbatore district Mr. MA Siddiqui.


He visited Mettupalayam GH and Jatayambalayam Vegetable Market, where traders wear masks and work with the social gap in the process of sorting potatoes in the potato godowns.


He said ”in order to control the spread of coronavirus infection in Coimbatore district, coronavirus testing is being carried out on a large scale and the infected are being identified and treated in isolation. In addition, vaccination procedures is taking place quickly.

In Coimbatore district, coronavirus victims are admitted to government hospitals including ESI Medical College Hospital, Government Medical College Hospital, Pollachi Government Hospital, Mettupalayam Government Hospital.

In this context, a study was carried out on the corona treatment unit, emergency department, obstetrics unit, outpatient department, pediatric unit, oxygen facilities at the Hospital, additional bed facilities provided to the corona patients and the treatment options provided to the patients suffering from corona infection.


In addition, CM medical insurance scheme is being implemented for the benefit of those suffering from corona infection and receiving treatment in private hospitals so that the government pays the hospital fees for their treatment.

Accordingly, 48 private hospitals in the Coimbatore district have so far admitted and treated patients under the Medicare scheme. and 64 hospitals have been temporarily sanctioned under the Scheme. A total of 112 hospitals have been sanctioned in the Coimbatore district under the scheme.


About Rs 21.57 crore worth of financial assistance has been provided to 1874 persons treated in private hospitals in Coimbatore district. Hospitals licensed to treat corona have been told to allot 10 percent of the beds for corona patients under the comprehensive insurance plan. The public must wear a face mask, maintain social gap and wash hands frequently to protect themselves from corona he advised.


Joint Director (Medical) Dr. Chandra, Deputy Director (Health) Dr. Aruna, Mettupalayam Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vinodkumar, Mettupalayam Government Hospital Chief Dr. Kannan and others were present during the review.
