The vegetable wholsesale market, functioning now at the Erode central bus stand, is expected to function in the Erode VOC Ground from July 1, corporation officials said.
They said that the market was shifted from the corporation’s Nethaji market to the bus stand due to corona 3 months back and later 700 shops were constructed in the VOC Ground and works on construction of toilet and drinking water facilities were going on there.
Once the work was completed, the shops in the bus stand would be shifted to the ground. Once the shops were shifted there, the retail trade, which was now banned in the bus stand , is expected to commence.
Social distancing norm would be strictly ensured in the new venue also and the shifting would help the bus stand to accommodate more buses in case the government allowed full fledged bus service, they said.
