TN Rural Transformation Project (TNRTP) becomes a boon for poor in rural areas to come up in life during the present Covid 19 pandemic period.
The scheme was inaugurated by the CM Edappadi K Palaniswami on May 28, 2020 to help farmer producers group/organizations, SHGs, differently abled, migrant labour who returned to the state, etc to start their own income generation activities, create employment and generate income in rural areas.
In the Coimbatore district, the scheme was introduced in 54 village panchayats of Karamadai, Periyanaikkanpalayam, Annur and Sarkarsamakulam blocks with allotment of Rs 5.16 crore to help 5047 beneficiaries.
Under the special corona special fund assistance, Rs 50000 each was given to individuals (total Rs 2.16 crore), Rs 67.50 lakh to widows, differently abled, transgenders and destitutes, Rs 36 lakh to farmers producers groups, Rs 16.50 lakh to farmers producers organizations, Rs 20 lakh to producer companies, Rs 21 lakh to migrant labours. So, 4741 beneficiaries got RS 3.77 crore loan so far under the scheme by starting vocations.
One among a beneficiary Raghuvaran of JJ Nagar, Samanaikkanpalayam, Vellamadai panchayat, said that “he returned from abroad to his native place in March due Corona pandemic and suffered much without job and income. At that time, he heard the scheme of giving Rs 1 lakh loan to persons like him.
So, he applied for it and got the loan which helped him to start a sweet stall. It helped him to get permanent income to his family. In this regard, I want to thank the CM for his timely help’’, he added.
