Sixteen thousand houses isolated, 92 containment zones created in Salem District

With forty two new cases of COVID 19 were reported on Monday in Salem District, as many as 16,000 houses are isolated and 92 containment areas have been created. Among the 42 new cases, 30 are from Salem, 6 are from other districts and 6 from other states. Thirty four patients were discharged from Salem GH on Monday.

According to official sources, the number of cases in Salem is steadily on the rise due to influx of people from other districts, hot spots like Chennai and other hot spot districts like Maharashtra. Coronavirus positive cases are being identified in Attur, Pedanickenapalayam, Ayothipattinam, Omalur, Mettur, Konganapuram, Tharamangalam, Karipatti and other areas. These areas have been brought under the control of Health Department.

As many as 16,000 houses have been isolated and being monitored.
People with symptoms like cold and fever are being tested for cornonavirus infection.

Vegetables and other essentials are being provided to every isolated homes said the Deputy Director Health Services, Dr.Nirmalson.
A total of 710 persons were affected by coronavirus in Salem District so far. Out of this 268 have been discharged and 2 persons succumbed to the infection.
