KMDK state general secretary ER Eswaran appealed to the Centre to extend the deadline for remitting EMI for various loans for another 6 months as the deadline for it is going to be ended this month. Due to covid 19, the deadline was given.
However, the curfew was not fully lifted, normalcy did not return, the workers who went to their states did not return, the industries did not function fully, lakhs of workers did not get their jobs and income fully.
So, many including firms, companies, and industries, were in deep distress in remitting their loan dues to the banks. If the banks demand the EMIs now, many would commit suicide. So, the RBI should direct the banks to extend the deadline for another 6 months, he asserted.
