Attending boomi pooja for construction of a marriage hall of the Pollachi farmer producer co-op society, at an outlay of Rs 2.75 crore, at Pollachi, Local Administration Minister SP Velumani distributed Rs 4.25 crore worth government benefits to 26607 persons on the occasion.
In his speech, he said that India Today magazine itself selected the state for the second time as best administered one in the nation by appreciating the effective rule of the CM Edappadi K Palaniswami. That itself vindicated the CM’s bid to lead the state into progressive path.
The CM offered various development schemes for the Coimbatore district and in the Pollachi region alone, more works were done under the Kudimaramathu scheme, rejuvenating many water bodies.
Informing that the agriculture became self-reliance in the region, he said that the region became a renowned place in the world in producing coconut based products.
Works like UGD, road expansion, Pollachi-Coimbatore 4-lane, by pass, Pollachi-Kovai alternate road via Negamam, water supply expansion, improvement in maternity ward in the GH and construction of a modern building for vegetable shandy were few among many schemes carried out in the region.
To meet the drinking water needs of 212 habitations in Pollachi South, North and Kinathukadvu blocks, Rs 72.75 crore combined water supply scheme was going on.
In ward 21 of Pollachi Municipality, Rs 170 crore worth UGD work was going on. In the Pollachi government arts and science college, Rs 8 crore worth building was under construction and 15 teaching and 17 non-teaching posts were created in it. In Pollachi Jothi Nagar, sports park with modern facilities were under construction at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
Besides, Rs 53 lakh worth road works, Rs 2 crore worth Amma marriage hall and Rs 6 crore worth municipal office building construction works were going on.
The National Highways department gave Rs 21.56 crore as compensation to land owners to expand the road in the Pollachi town. Informing that the CM has fulfilled the 50 year old demand of the ryots by allowing them to produce Neera, he said that Anaimalai taluk was created by bifurcating Pollachi taluk. Foundation was laid today for construction of a memorial for VK Palanisamy Goundar, father of Parambikulam-Aliyaru project.
The upcoming marriage hall in 10100 sq ft would accommodate 1000 people at a time and it would help both public and 12500 members of the farmer producer co-op society, he said and then handed over Rs 4.25 crore worth benefits under various government welfare schemes to 26607 persons.
Animal Husbandry Minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, deputy speaker of state Assembly Pollachi V Jayaraman, central co-op bank president Krishakumar, Collector K Rasamani, DRO Ramadurai Murugan, sub collector Vaidyanathan, bank managing director Indumathi and Co-op society joint registrar Palanisamy attended the function.
