Under the CM’s free milch animal distribution scheme for poor women, 400 animals would be distributed in 8 villages in the district this year, Namakkal Collector K Meharaj said.
He said that the benefits would be given in Keezhur, Ponkurichi, Pillaikalathur, Periyakulam, Marappanaikkanpatti, Perappansolai in November, Pallipatti, Pachal villages in January 2021.
In this connection, special gram sabha meetings would be held to finalise the beneficiaries, he added. Under the free goat/sheep distribution scheme, 4031 animals would be given in 54 villages in December and February after selecting eligible beneficiaries in the special gram sabha meetings to be held in the concerned villages.
Under the free chicks distribution scheme for women, 6000 beneficiaries would get it in the district this year. Interested persons can apply to veterinarians in nearby animal husbandry dispensary before Sept 23.
The beneficiaries would be selected by a team led by joint director of animal husbandry.
Under the schemes, only poor women, destitutes, widows, differently abled, and those who registered in the TN rural transformation project are eligible to get the benefit. 30 percent of the benefit would be given to SC/STs and those who already got free milch animal, chick and goats are ineligible to get benefit. The poorest among poor, landless farm labour of the village who did not have milch animals are eligible to get the benefit. The localbody, centre, state, co-op staff, panchayat members are ineligible, he added.
FOREST: Under the MGNREGS, social forest was created at a cost of Rs 4 lakh at Marappanaikkanpatti in Namakkal Panchayat Union, said collector K Meharaj while inspecting it on Tuesday.
In the forest, 150 saplings of mango, jackfruit, banana, guava, naval were planted, he said adding under the PMKUSUM project, a 5 hp solar submersible pump, costing Rs 2.37 lakh, was given to a ryot P Devarajan. The government subsidy for it is Rs 1.66 lakh, he added.
